Where merchandising data is stored independently of sales data, the RetailSmart Merchandising Information Center serves as a central repository of the companies data required for analysis. Now all company data, no matter which systems are independently used, can be merged to form a hub of information flow that produces "real time reporting".

The following is a summary of the solutions offered by the Merchandising Information Center:    

  • Help the User turn “data” into “information”, thus enabling clear analysis for more informed decisions
  • Reduces (and eliminates) the need for double entry, thereby reducing the likelihood of human error or systems going out of sync
  • Fast, accurate and well laid out reports are produced in a standard format, for presentation to management teams
  • Provide a facility to produce non-standard “ad-hoc” reports
  • Provide a single repository (source) for “information”, i.e. no going to John in Accounts for finance information then Janice in Admin for sales information then Bob in the warehouse for stock control information. Linking the disparate systems into a centralised “hub”.
  • A single interface for getting the information out – not using a mainframe system to get Product information, Excel to get customer details and Business Objects for sales information. So less time used training people to use the system and easier to maintain.
  • Flexibility to change or update feed and flows, as business requirements change, i.e. change the “KPI” calculation that gets fed into my Assortment tool when a new piece of data becomes available or the business logic / requirement changes.
  • Deliver data into a system such as Apollo Total Store for use in that environment - eliminating the need to keep referring to an Excel spreadsheet while laying out the plan.
  • Synchronising data delivery between back-end systems.
